About the Principal
Dr. David Ackerman, Founder of Granace Capital LLC, has over three decades of expertise in technology and investing. He has an MBA in financial management and an MS in Computer Science. He has served as the first and only Chief Digital Officer of New York University, Expert on Mission to the United Nations, Founding Chairman of the Board of the Internet Society of New York (ISOC-NY), Founding Chairman of the Board of the Apereo Foundation, and as Executor of multiple estates and Trustee of multiple trusts.
As Chief Digital Office of New York University, the largest private university in the US, while investing hundreds of millions of dollars in technology for the benefit of NYU, he created and led initiatives that included: building some of the fastest supercomputers in the world (on the Top500 List); deploying one of the fastest, largest capacity networks (400 Gbs with 6.4 Tb total); supporting over 1,000 researchers employing AI; creating a world-class 3D print operation with unimaginable results including participation in multiple face transplants; implementing a digital learning environment; supporting the buildup to surpassing a billion dollars per year in NYU research funding; and leading peta-scale digital preservation efforts.
By building relationships with and supporting career advancement of staff to the largest and most important technology companies including Nvdia, Google, Dell, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Palantir and so many others, he has close relationships with -- and access to -- a wide range of leaders in extremely strategic places. He has had dinner on a number of occasions with Michael Dell; Lisa Su lobbied him in his office for a sale and he secured a multimillion dollar grant from her; and he wrote a speech for Bill Gates that Bill delivered unedited word for word. As an award-winning and celebrated technology leader, while privately managing money, he worked tirelessly and effectively for NYU, and he will do the same for you.
